About Me
My name is Julie Benedetti. I presently live in Tacoma, WA. where I have resided since 1987. I am married
and have two boys, Joseph and Lee. Besides being a birth doula, I have been a stay at home mom since my first son was born.
I have been assisting friends and family in labor since 1992. I have a strong passion to aid moms and dads in labor. The people that I helped found it very valuable and suggested I make it a career. From this passion and input from others, I pursued membership and certification through a local organization and then on to a national organization, DONA, Doula’s of North America.
The certification process required schooling, a written final examination, dr's. evaluations, numerous deliveries, and assistance by a certified doula. I participate in continuing education yearly to stay current on the changes that come for laboring families.
In my years of being a birth doula, my experience includes twin births, VBAC’s (vaginal birth after a cesarean), military families, married couples, teenagers, adoption,
water birth, sick babies, high needs pregnancies, cesarean, medicated and unmedicated births, induction births, and families where there are no complications. I have attended births at St. Joseph’s, Tacoma General, Madigan, Swedish, Valley General, and Good Samaritan . Each birth I take away an awe of birth and what a miracle each child is.
My heart is to be an emotional and physical support to the mom and her partner. Since the Greek word doula means "servant," it is my goal to use my expertise to serve you and to bring as much comfort in the best way I can.
